Cadsoft Eagle Import Bitmap
With some help from Peter van der Walt, I got some good results importing a BMP into Eagle. Just selecting a BMP and importing it, most often gives a bad and jagged result on the pcb, here is how I did some processing on the image before importing it. It is an updated version of the nice “import_dxf_polygons.ulp” extension written by Tim Ruetz and originally available from the Cadsoft Eagle userfiles misc area. I modified it slightly to let you select between WIRE (outline shape) and POLYGON (filled shape). EAGLE by CadSoft Computer GmbH. EAGLE is a PCB design software with a schematic editor. It lets you draw the circuit schematic and shift to PCB design easily; real-time design synchronization between both makes it easy to incorporate changes. V8.1 does not have the option to import Gerbers. Only EAGLE files, P-CAD/ALTIUM/PROTEL, Bitmap, and DXF. I tried all of these options with several different.GBR files with no luck. Next, return to EAGLE and open the ULP script that will import the bitmap onto a layer of your board. Select File->Run -> import-bmp.ulp.

There are instructions out there on the web on how to import a Bitmap file into Eagle CAD and it's an option in the 'File' menu so it should not be a problem. I'm going through the process and finding that at no point does Eagle prompt me for the actual bitmap file that I want to import. It goes through the steps of selecting colours and gives me the Eagle CAD Logo. It's a great Logo but not the one I want to use on my boards.
Free microsoft word download windows 7 starter. I suggest WindowBlinds. Download the free trial and use the Sabertooth theme, which is a pretty good mac imitator and i know it won't mess up your computer. When the 30 Day trial runs out, no problem.
I'm still on eagle 6.5.0 so maybe there's a problem on that version?

DIY CNC Machines are fun to build. There are a lot of different designs all over the internet. Some are large and some small. Some are made from new material and others from recycled parts. [Leonardo’s] newest project is at the absolute far end of the small and recycled spectra. His CNC Machine is made from CD Drives and can draw a mean Nelson.
First, the CD Drives were disassembled to gain access to the carriages. These were then mounted to a quick and dirty wooden frame. Notice the Y Axis carriage is mounted with bolts and nuts that allow for leveling of the bed, not a bad idea. A Bic pen mounted to the Z axis carriage is responsible for the drawing duties.

[Leonardo] does something a little different for generating his g-code. First he takes a bitmap image and converts it to monochrome using MS Paint. The image is then imported into Cadsoft Eagle and using a modified import_bmp.ulp script. The bitmap is converted into what Eagle considers wire traces and then outputted as x and y coordinates for each wire complete with a command for lifting and lowering the pen.

A PC sends the move commands via USB, through a PL2303HX USB-Serial TTL Converter, to a PIC16F628A which, in turn, sends step and direction signals to the three Easy Driver stepper motor drivers. The stepper motor drivers are connected directly to the original CD Drive motors.
