Hello, I have this very odd issue where all of the computers in our domain network are experiencing websites loading very slow.If I do a speed test at speedtest.net (and other. [SOLVED] Websites loading very slow but speed test is very fast.help - Networking - Spiceworks. So you’ve successfully run an Internet speed test, and the test results include a variety of information: upload speed, download speed, ping, and sometimes more. What does all this data mean? You probably spend a good chunk of your hard-earned money on your Internet service provider, so making sure you get the bandwidth you are promised.

  1. My Download Speed Is Good But My Ping Is Bad For You
  2. Download Speed Is Good But Upload Is Slow
  • I have a ping of 30~ download of 58~ and a upload of 11 or 12. This is okay. I find that my ping is a bit too high. It might be due to hitting the cable while gardening last year. It did make a little break in the wire which would allow some moisture to the line which would slow the connection speed.
  • Good ping is anywhere from 0 to 100 ms in my opinion. People are really picky about their ping but honestly for games like Minecraft, having 30 ping or 100 ping wont make much of a difference.
To start off, I'm not tech savy and not familiar with lot of troubleshooting techniques and IT vocabs.
My speed test shows that my internet speed is pretty stable and I don't really have problem browsing and doing small things but when I play my online games (Heroes of Newerth), my ping in game shoots up 500ms+ and is very unplayable.
I have not had this problem about a week ago and it barely started.

I also tried ping test and during the test it shows packet loss which I don't really know what that means.

I have a very high end built gaming pc, i5-4670k,msi z87-g45,8gb,gtx770 4gb so I know it's not due to pc lag.
My ISP is Charter and I really doubt calling them would change anything.
So is it possible for anyone to tell me what the problem might be and how I can fix it in the simplest way?

First of all thanks for any help!

To start with, my internet speeds are bad (3 down and 3/4 up) I can normally play Minecraft with very little lag (me and my 2 bros that play).

Recently my Internet has been degraded significantly with high ping/bad internet speeds, but in spikes!

First of all we started with a old gateway router, wireless connection and extender. Just last night we set up a Netgear WPN824N router, and set it up LAN, this helped.. but still had some lag with just the 3 of us with Minecraft (bearable but still annoying)

But it seems we found a/the problem! when we blocked my sister's nexus 7 (1st gen) which she recently got back, IT WAS AMAZING, no lag (on the old router, wireless).

I don't understand how we can have other tablets on the network and no lag, but my sisters Nexus 7 causes lag, this is the best tablet on the network! (we have a few others.. all cheap tablets)

I need to fix the problem with her tablet so I can have her on the network with us.

So things I've ruled out as problems:

  1. Router
  2. Wireless/wired makes no difference (small but has been tested both ways)
  3. Only my pc, this is on mine, my 2 brothers machines as well
  4. Other Tablets on my network (although they pull some, its not to bad)

Interesting things to note:

Meid to imei converter. Enter a valid MEID or ESN Serial Number in either HEX or DEC format, one per line or coma separated. In addition to the conversion values you will also recieve your MetroPCS SPC Code, if needed. You can now convert one or more MEIDs via a HTTP Request. You will recieve a JSON response. A mobile equipment identifier, or MEID, is a unique number that identifies a wireless handset. This system replaced the electronic serial number (ESN) system in 2006. You can use MEID Convertor to convert between MEID and ESN, and to view both decimal and hexadecimal formats.

  1. I do know that there are some video sites that dont compress videos correctly, will have the same effect on the network, so much so, I used to be able to tell when someone was on one of those sites!
  2. It makes both ping and Internet speed go up and down!
  3. We have a network extender (but we have tried to turn that off, does nothing)
  4. HP Printer on my network
  5. Many PCs and tablets (although wasn't a problem with any but the Nexus 7)

Important things:

  1. When restarting the router there is about 1 minute that it goes really well, NO LAG! but then I'm assuming there is something clogging it up!
  2. Normal ping to Google.com or 8.8.8.8 goes from 35 ms spiking at about 50 ms
  3. Bad ping goes 100 ms low to almost 1000 ms and servers that I connect to are always request timed out!

As you can see with the screenshot below, there is something pulling all the internet speed at times! then it just stops..

Last thing I might add that normally when it drops ping from really high to low.. it has 1 request timed out, then goes low!

If you have any ideas or questions be sure to ask!
Thanks for your time and support!
Justin

Download Speed Is Good But Upload Is Slow

Well I had the same issues, when i investigated, I found that a program i had recently installed called BackBlaze, was backing up my pc in the background. I quit it, now is the time to see if that was the issue (I'm fairly certain it was) Hope This helps!
